The investigation into the adulteration of ghee used in the prasad prepared at Ambaji Temple was expedited by the administration, food and drugs department, and police departments. The train of this investigation has now reached Neelkanth Traders located in Madhupura, Ahmedabad. Mohini Caterers had purchased ghee boxes from this firm. An investigation was conducted at Neelkanth Traders at night. After penance, the shop of Neelkanth Traders was sealed and a notice was pasted.

What was the controversy?
The contract for making Mohanthal Prasad at Ambaji Mandir was given to Mohini Caterers. After the investigation of the Food Department, it was found that the ghee used to make Mohanthal was adulterated. After the investigation, Mohini Caterers was blacklisted and the contract of the company was cancelled. Further investigation revealed that Mohini Caterers had brought it from Neelkanth Traders in Madhupura area of Ahmedabad. Earlier from 2012 to 2017, Touch Stone Foundation Ahmedabad had done the work of running Mohanthal Prasad in Ambaji. Then once again this contract has been given to the agency for six months. Then the new company for the Prasad contract has also been involved in the controversy. Touch Stone Foundation was earlier fined Rs. 60 thousand for adulterating Prasad.

In this matter, Banaskantha Collector Varun Baranwal said that the contract for making Prasad has now been handed over to Touch Stone Foundation. This foundation works in many places in the country. Earlier, Touch Stone Foundation had done this work from 2012 to 2017. At one time, there was a case that due to high crowd, powder was used instead of milk to make Mohan Thal and that too came to the notice of the administration and Touch Stone Foundation was fined Rs. 60 thousand. After which, while investigating this matter, we did not find any other fault of the foundation.

He said that the district administration had made arrangements for making Prasad, from the materials to the monitoring. Our men were there 24 hours a day at the place where the prasad was being prepared. So there was no compromise in the quality of the prasad. Mohini Caterers has been ordered to stay away from the prasad house. Its contract has also not been renewed. An FIR has also been lodged against Mohini Caterers.
