CSK players surrounded the umpire along with Dhoni, match stopped for 4 minutes due to Pathirana, know the reason
The first qualifier match was stopped for a while due to Chennai Super Kings fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana. He remained off the field for more than 8 minutes, due to which the umpire stopped him from bowling.

What was the whole matter?
The match between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings was stopped for about 4 minutes due to fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana. During this, Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni and some of the team players were seen talking to the umpire. Actually, after the end of the 15th over of Gujarat Titans’ innings, Dhoni wanted to bowl to Pathirana but the umpire refused to bowl to him at that time. Because he was out of the field for more than 8 minutes.
What is the rule?
Actually, according to the playing conditions of IPL matches, if a player stays out of the field for more than 8 minutes, then he has to stay on the field for the time that he is out of the field, after which he is allowed to bowl. In Pathirana’s case, he stayed out of the field for about 9 minutes and then came back on the field. Although he reached the field, he had to wait a few more minutes as per the rules to bowl. But Dhoni was not aware of this, but when the umpire stopped him to bowl, Dhoni and his teammates were seen discussing the matter with the umpire. After a break of about 4 minutes, the game resumed and only Pathira bowled.
Chennai’s magnificent victory
With the help of a brilliant half-century from Rituraj Gaikwad and an all-round performance from Ravindra Jadeja, Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 15 runs in the first qualifier of the Indian Premier League on Tuesday. Chennai had given a target of 173 runs to Gujarat, in response to which Gujarat were all out for 157 runs on the last ball of the innings.
