In line with the push for justice and national security, India responded with decisive force through Operation Sindoor, a series of targeted precision strikes carried out against terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on the midnight of Tuesday and Wednesday. India’s army said at least seven civilians were killed by Pakistani shelling on its side of the de facto border. Pakistan, meanwhile, said that 26 people have been killed and 46 injured in Indian air strikes and firing along the Line of Control.
Guided by the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the defence ministry of India, India’s calibrated yet firm response highlights the country’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens while maintaining regional stability. The strikes specifically targeted nine terror infrastructure sites across Pakistan and PoK, without causing damage to any Pakistani military facilities — a move underscoring India’s non-escalatory approach despite provocation.
As per media reports, the Indian Army confirmed that the objective was to dismantle active launchpads and camps used by terrorist groups operating across the Line of Control (LoC). The operation marks a significant evolution in India’s counter-terrorism strategy, reinforcing its resolve to respond to threats with precision and purpose.

Public support for the action has been vocal, especially from the family of Bharath Bhushan, one of the victims of the April 22 Pahalgam attack. Bhushan, a resident of Bengaluru, was gunned down while vacationing with his wife Sujatha and their three-year-old son, both of whom survived. “The government has done a good job. We are fully in support,” said the grieving family, lauding the swift action by Indian forces.
In retaliation, the Pakistan Army resorted to heavy artillery and mortar shelling across forward villages along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. Officials confirmed that the unprovoked shelling resulted in the deaths of nine civilians and injuries to 41 others.
Amid the escalating tension, heightened military activity has been reported in the Kashmir Valley, particularly around Srinagar, where increased air traffic suggests enhanced operational readiness and surveillance.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah responded promptly by directing the immediate release of contingency funds to all Deputy Commissioners. He also urged administrative officials to actively counter misinformation and advised the public to rely solely on verified information sources.
