Now men will be able to take the contraceptive pill…know what are the details?

This new method will stop men’s sperm for two and a half hours, stopping pregnancy

Scientists are now working on making birth control pills for men. They have also achieved great success in this field. Scientists have made a pill that has been successful on rats. Now after repeating this experiment in a preclinical model, its clinical trial will be done on humans.

Like birth control pills for women, scientists are also busy developing birth control pills for men. Scientists have made great progress in this. They have developed a contraceptive that prevents pregnancy in mice by temporarily blocking sperm from reaching their destination.

Researchers from Weill Cornell Medicine in America said that until now, the only option for contraception for men has been condoms. Researchers say that in the past, research into birth control pills for men was stopped because many side effects were revealed.

The study’s team, led by co-senior authors Lonnie Levine and Jochen Buck, found that mice genetically lacked a key cellular signaling protein, called soluble adenylyl cyclase (SAC).

The study, published in the journal Nature Communications, reported that a single dose of the SAC inhibitor TDI 11861 immobilized the sperm of mice for two and a half hours. After mating, the mice’s sperm also remain dormant in the female reproductive tract.

After three hours, some sperm had regained motility, and by 24 hours, almost all sperm had returned to normal motility, the researchers said. Male mice dosed with TDI-11861 were paired with female mice. , The mice mated normally but the female mice did not become pregnant even after 52 separate matings.

The researchers said, ‘Our pill works within 30 minutes to an hour. While other contraceptives take weeks to reduce sperm count or make eggs unable to fertilize.

The researchers say that the effect of SAC blocker pills is short-lived and men take them only when they need them. This will give men the freedom to make day-to-day decisions about their fertility.

Levine said that his team has successfully tested these pills on rats and is now working on its trial in humans. The researchers will now repeat this experiment in a different preclinical model. After this, a clinical trial of this drug on humans will begin. If the trial is successful, the contraceptive pill for men will come to the market…
