Gujarat: 7900 applications received for e-FIR, only 1799 FIRs registered

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Police has made the facility of e-FIR available from home through the Citizen Portal in cases of vehicle and mobile theft since July 23. Under this, the state government has received 7953 applications till February 8, out of which FIRs have been registered on only 1799 applications. The remaining 6154 applications are pending. A 15-day campaign will be run by the Home Department and Gujarat Police to re-examine and dispose of all such applications.

Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi said that he has directed the State Record Crime Bureau to re-examine the remaining 6154 applications and what action can be taken in them. For this, a 15-day campaign should be run from February 10 to 25 and resolve it. If the facts are found, then register their FIR and take further action.

After re-investigation, FIR will be filed after getting facts

The action of Gujarat Police regarding e-FIR facility was recently reviewed by Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi. In which officials said that negative responses have been received in the case of these pending applications. In such a situation, the Home Department has instructed to re-investigate all of them. After re-investigation, FIR will be filed after getting facts. Efforts will be made to trace them. The vehicles and mobile phones that have been found during this period will be taken action by the court and will be returned to their owners.

Help from Netram in vehicle theft cases

Help from Netram and Gujarat Police’s Command and Control Center will be taken to investigate pending complaints of vehicle theft under e-FIR, such vehicles will be inspected with the help of ANPR cameras.

The location of the mobile will be traced and traced.
