Chetan Sharma’s first term as a selector ended after the T20 World Cup 2022. After this, he was again appointed as the chief selector for a second term. It had been less than two months since his appointment but now he has resigned. Reports suggest that the BCCI wanted to give Chetan Sharma a chance to present his side and explain himself, but Sharma sent his resignation directly to Jay Shah. Shah has also accepted it with immediate effect.
A source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told PTI on condition of anonymity that, yes, Chetan has submitted his resignation to BCCI secretary Jay Shah and his resignation has been accepted. His condition had become unstable after the sting operation. He has resigned voluntarily. He was not asked to resign.” Chetan Sharma was in Kolkata along with other members of the selection committee for the Ranji Trophy final between Bengal and Saurashtra. He had gone there in connection with the selection of the team for the Irani Cup.
Another BCCI source also said in this regard that coach Rahul Dravid, captain Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya have lost complete faith in him. It was not possible to sit with him in the selection committee meeting as he had lost respect. He suffered the loss of his toughness.
