Dr. Karan Barot is a medical professional who transitioned into public life driven by a deep commitment to social service and public welfare. In 2020, he joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and began his political journey as a Ward President in Ahmedabad.
From the outset, Dr. Barot focused on strengthening the party’s grassroots organization by building robust booth- and ward-level structures. His dedication, leadership, and organizational skills quickly earned him recognition among party workers and established him as a committed grassroots leader.
Alongside his organizational responsibilities, Dr. Barot served as the party’s authorized spokesperson and panelist on leading news channels, where he consistently articulated the party’s stance on key public issues. Through television debates and media interactions, he effectively represented the party’s vision while raising matters of public concern.
During the 2022 Gujarat Assembly Elections, Dr. Barot played a vital role in the party’s statewide campaign. Working closely with party workers, he travelled extensively across urban and rural Gujarat, strengthening election strategy, coordinating grassroots outreach, and communicating the party’s policies and vision to the public through both field campaigns and media engagement.
A strong advocate for the rights of Gujarat’s youth, Dr. Barot has consistently highlighted issues such as competitive examination paper leaks and the need for a transparent and merit-based recruitment system. His persistent efforts helped bring these concerns into mainstream public discourse and amplified the voices of thousands of aspiring youth.
He also played a leading role during the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Elections, contributing significantly to organizational strengthening, campaign management, worker coordination, and public outreach.
In the Visavadar Assembly by-election, Dr. Barot actively contributed to the successful campaign of Aam Aadmi Party candidate **. He worked extensively at the grassroots level, coordinating campaign strategy, public engagement, and organizational efforts to strengthen the party’s presence throughout the constituency.
Dr. Barot also led the campaign highlighting the issues faced by 112 Jan Rakshak emergency service drivers. Through sustained advocacy, continuous dialogue, and persistent efforts, the campaign achieved positive progress, resulting in meaningful relief for the affected employees.
Over the years, he has addressed numerous press conferences on behalf of the party, presenting AAP’s position on a wide range of issues concerning governance, public welfare, and state affairs. His clear communication and issue-based approach have strengthened the party’s public engagement.
Recognizing his dedication, organizational abilities, and effective public outreach, the Aam Aadmi Party appointed Dr. Barot as the Chief Spokesperson of Gujarat in 2025. In this role, he further enhanced the party’s presence across traditional media as well as digital and social media platforms.
Dr. Barot also spearheaded the party’s “Pol Khol Team” initiative in Ahmedabad, leading grassroots campaigns focused on civic issues and public grievances. Under his leadership, the initiative emerged as one of the party’s most impactful public outreach programs in the city, bringing citizens’ concerns directly before the administration.
Under the party’s recent organizational restructuring, Dr. Barot was entrusted with the responsibility of State Organization Secretary while also overseeing organizational affairs in Ahmedabad. In his current role, he continues to strengthen the party’s constituency-level network, expand grassroots participation, induct new members, and build a stronger organizational framework across the state.
